I Bought a Refurbished OnePlus in 2019 — Here’s What Happened After 7 Years

When people talk about smartphones today, the conversation usually revolves around the latest launch, newest camera, or fastest processor.

But this post is not about a new phone.

It’s about a phone I’ve been using for the past 7 years — a OnePlus device that I bought in 2019, and not even brand new.

It was a refurbished phone.

And surprisingly, it’s still working perfectly fine.

That experience alone is the reason I trust OnePlus as a brand.

The Purchase — A Refurbished Gamble

Back in 2019, I wasn’t planning to spend a lot on a smartphone. I came across a refurbished OnePlus device at a good price and decided to take a chance.

Honestly, I didn’t expect it to last this long.

Most people assume refurbished phones come with risks:

  • Battery problems

  • Performance slowdown

  • Hardware failures

  • Short lifespan

But my experience turned out to be the complete opposite.

7 Years Later — Still Going Strong

After years of daily usage, here’s what still impresses me:

1. Performance Stability

Even after all these years, the phone remains smooth for everyday tasks like:

  • Browsing

  • Social media

  • Calls and messaging

  • Light productivity

It may not compete with modern flagship speeds, but it never became frustrating to use.

That says a lot about the hardware optimization.

2. Build Quality Matters

One thing I noticed with OnePlus devices is the solid build quality.

The phone has survived:

  • Daily usage

  • Travel

  • Minor drops

  • Long charging cycles

And it still feels reliable.

Durability is something people underestimate when buying phones.

3. Clean Software Experience

OnePlus is known for its near-stock Android experience.

That means:

  • Less bloatware

  • Smooth interface

  • Faster updates (at least during the supported period)

  • Minimal lag over time

This makes a huge difference in long-term usability.

4. Value for Money

Buying a refurbished OnePlus device turned out to be one of the best value decisions I made.

Instead of upgrading every 2–3 years, I ended up using one device for almost a decade.

That’s real ROI.

Why This Built My Trust in OnePlus

Trust doesn’t come from marketing.

It comes from experience.

After using a OnePlus phone for 7 years:

  • I trust their hardware quality

  • I trust their performance optimization

  • I trust their long-term reliability

Would I buy another OnePlus phone?

Yes — without hesitation.

Thinking of Buying a OnePlus Phone?

If you’re considering a OnePlus device, I’d recommend checking the latest models available.

Final Thoughts

Technology keeps evolving, but reliability never goes out of style.

My 7-year journey with a refurbished OnePlus phone proved something simple:

A well-built device can outlast expectations.

And sometimes, the best tech investment isn’t the newest one — it’s the one that just keeps working.

AB de villiers announces retirement from international cricket - My photos

A 360° player was known to cricket fans worldwide until last week, when he took a brilliant catch of his career (one of the best for me!), getting a new title as “Spiderman”, by his captain.

All went normal till yesterday, when sudden news came out as AB de Villiers announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. That was really hard to accept for one of my colleague, as he is die-hard fan from the very beginning.

AB de Villiers started playing for South African Cricket team (Debut for Test format) in the year 2004 against England. He and Dale Steyn started in the same match. He opened the batting at first, after tremendous perfomances, he was switched between middle orders and at 8th position, to keep up the wicket. It was his extraordinary skills that got him the title ‘360° player’. He was able to hit any ball, any where, to any bowler.

After a brief slump in form in 2006 and 2007, de Villiers' returned early in 2008 with a blistering 103 not out off 109 balls in Durban against West Indies. Later that year, he became the first South African to score a double-century against India with his undefeated 217 at Ahmedabad. He topped that up with 174 at Leeds in South Africa's first series win in England since readmission and a 106* against Australia in Perth in the country's first series win in Australia post-readmission. That was de Villiers' best Test year, with 1061 runs at 58.94.

He first came close to that again in 2010, when he scored 996 runs in the calendar year. His 278* against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi gave him the highest individual score by a South African in Test cricket (Hashim Amla later scored a triple-century). That same year, de Villiers also struck three successive ODI centuries - two against India and one against West Indies.

The second time he came within touching distance of four figures in a Test calendar year was in 2013 when he scored 933 runs to ensure South Africa kept the Test mace they won in 2012. By then, de Villiers had also accepted the responsibility of full-time Test gloveman after Mark Boucher's retirement, as well as the ODI and T20 captaincy after Graeme Smith stepped down. He later handed over the T20 reigns to Faf du Plessis.

De Villiers blossomed with the additional responsibility, even as concerns over a chronic back injury grew. He was relieved from keeping in shorter formats to concentrate on captaincy when Quinton de Kock was included in South African squad. By 2014, he had also handed the Test keeper's gloves to de Kock. That seemed a sensible decision because Smith retired in March that year and de Villiers was believed to be the natural successor. However, he was overlooked in favour of Amla.

That did nothing to dim de Villiers' resolve. He came back with even more striking power than before and in January 2015 broke the record for the fastest ODI century, reaching it in just 31 balls against West Indies at the Wanderers. That was the loudest warning cry he could have made for South Africa's chances at the 2015 World Cup, but it proved a false one. Despite inspirational leadership from de Villiers, who routinely called his team "the best" at the tournament, South Africa bowed out at semi-final stage.

The one stage de Villiers did not set alight was international T20 cricket, where he often found himself batting too low in the line-up and with not enough time to make an impact. He rectified that through the IPL, where he was one of the Royal Challengers Bangalore's most successful players. In a memorable match in the 2014 edition of the competition, de Villiers smacked his countryman Steyn for 23 runs in one over.

With de Villiers in high demand from foreign leagues, his workload became a talking point in the 2015-16 summer when he suggested he would have to look at ways to lighten the load. There were rumours of early retirement but those were quashed when he was asked to stand in as Test captain when Amla gave up the job mid-series against England. It was a job de Villiers had always wanted and accepted immediately. He was appointed permanent Test captain in January 2016.

Finally NASA succeeds: Confirming the presence of Water on Mars

NASA confirms presence of water on Mars. The much awaited result by NASA confirms the hope of life on Mars. According to the researchers Liquid Water runs down canyons and crater walls over the summer months on Mars.

The trickles leave long, dark stains on the Martian terrain that can reach hundreds of metres downhill in the warmer months, before they dry up in the autumn as surface temperatures drop.

The Lead Scientist on NASA’s Mars Exploration Programme, Michael Mayer said,” There is liquid water today on the surface of Mars, because of this, we suspect that it is at least possible to have a habitable environment today”.

But occasionally, Mars probes have found hints that the planet might still be wet. Nearly a decade ago, NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor took pictures of what appeared to be water bursting through a gully wall and flowing around boulders and other rocky debris. In 2011, the high-resolution camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured what looked like little streams flowing down crater walls from late spring to early autumn. Not wanting to assume too much, mission scientists named the flows “recurring slope linear” or RSL.

“These may be the best places to search for extant life near the surface of Mars,” said Alfred McEwen, a planetary geologist at the University of Arizona and senior author on the study. “While it would be very important to find evidence of ancient life, it would be difficult to understand the biology. Current life would be much more informative.”

“The mystery has been, what is permitting this flow? Presumably water, but until now, there has been no spectral signature,” Meyer said. “From this, we conclude that the RSL are generated by water interacting with perchlorates, forming a brine that flows downhill.”
